# Liverpool keen to bring Keita to the club in January

Liverpool want to accelerate their move for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, according to a report from the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/01/07/liverpool-hoping-speeding-naby-keitas-transfer-rb-leipzig-following/).

The Reds have a deal in place to sign Keita at the end of the season for a cut-price fee, following last summer’s pursuit of the Guinea international. However, following Philippe Coutinho’s recently confirmed departure, it seems they want to have Keita available for the second half of the season.

Liverpool have already secured the services of Virgil van Dijk, who joined the club officially on the first day of the window for £75m. Now, though, Barcelona have splashed £142m on Coutinho and Liverpool will hope to sufficiently replace him.

Keita has been struggling with indiscipline at Leipzig this season and doesn’t appear to be totally focused on the task at hand. It’s stated that while a deal at this moment in time looks unlikely, the Reds are willing to spend yet more to bring Keita to the club in January.
