# Liverpool keeping tabs on Lazio forward Balde Diao

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation of Lazio’s Keita Balde Diao as they consider a bid for the forward, according to a report on [ESPN FC](https://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/3137756/liverpool-in-talks-with-roma-over-mohamed-salah-eyeing-lazios-balde-sources).

Liverpool have been interested in Balde Diao for a long time and have been sending scouts to watch the youngster in Serie A since 2014.

Reports suggest that even though Liverpool are seriously interested in the player, no official bid or contact has been made with the Serie A club or with the player’s representatives.

The Senegal international’s contract with Lazio expire in the summer of 2018 and at the moment, there is no indication that the striker will sign a new deal to extend his stay at the club.

Balde Diao, 22, is a product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia youth setup and netted 16 times in 31 appearances in the Italian Serie A this season.

Juventus and AC Milan are also interested in the forward with reports suggesting that other Premier League clubs are also interested in securing his services, so Liverpool will have to be quick to secure his signature.

Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen his front-line as Liverpool prepare to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

With Daniel Sturridge consistently getting injured and Roberto Firmino a false-nine forward, Klopp really only has Belgian Divock Origi at his disposal as a proper striker. The German manager is an admirer of Balde Diao and he is thought to be the preferred transfer target at the moment.
