# Liverpool ‘lead the race’ to sign Victor Osimhen

Liverpool are leading the race to sign Lille striker Victor Osimhen, according to a report from Italian outlet [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.it/2020/07/16/calciomercato-napoli-osimhen-liverpool/).

Napoli and [Manchester United](https://sportwitness.co.uk/claim-manchester-united-called-agent-hours-ago-e50m-striker-late-interest/) have also been linked with a move for the forward, with Napoli touted as the favourites to sign the 21-year-old, but the reports from Italy claim that it’s Liverpool who are most likely to sign him.

Before the season in France was halted, the Nigerian star was in great form for Lille, having [scored 18 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-osimhen/profil/spieler/401923), whilst also assisting a further six for his teammate, so it makes sense for there to be interest in him.

Osimhen‘s goalscoring record has been very impressive and he looks like he’d be a good addition for the Reds but it remains to be seen if there is much interest in him from the new Premier League champions.

Liverpool could do with adding a new forward line in order to bridge the gap in quality between the starters and the current back-up options but given the state of the club’s finances due to the pandemic, it’s difficult to see them signing Osimhen this summer.
