# Liverpool leapfrog Man United as favourites to sign Sancho

Liverpool have jumped ahead of Man United in the race to sign Jadon Sancho next summer, according to the [https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/liverpool-manchester-united-jadon-sancho-transfer-news-latest-b835781.html](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/liverpool-manchester-united-jadon-sancho-transfer-news-latest-b835781.html)*[Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/liverpool-manchester-united-jadon-sancho-transfer-news-latest-b835781.html)*‘s Miguel Delaney.

Sancho ended up not joining United during the summer transfer window, staying put at Borussia Dortmund for another season instead.

Now, Delaney reports that Liverpool and Bayern Munich are more likely destinations for the England international at the end of the season.

Sancho has ‘naturally impressed’ Jurgen Klopp, and while the Reds couldn’t pay the required £100million for him this summer, that could change next time around.

I think this update is a sign of how the dynamic between Liverpool and United has changed.

There was a time when every top young player would opt for a move to Old Trafford instead of Anfield, such was United’s level of success under Alex Ferguson.

Liverpool’s bitter rivals are now struggling under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, while Klopp has arguably turned the Reds into Europe’s most dominant force, along with Bayern.

I could see a scenario where Sancho joins and one of Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane moves on, in order to help pay for the deal.

Both Liverpool superstars will be 29 by that point and it would be the last chance to earn a huge fee for either player.

That may not please many Reds supporters, but given the way in which Michael Edwards shrewdly conducts business, it would not be a shock to see happen.
