# Liverpool Linked With Shock Move For Davinson Sanchez

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/12/08/divock-origi-needs-big-performance-midtjylland/) have been linked with a surprise move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez by Spanish publication [Fichajes.](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/davinson-sanchez-entra-radar-milan-grandes-europeos-20201207.html)

The report claimed that the Reds are among a number of clubs eyeing up a move for Sanchez as the centre-back [struggles to break into](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davinson-sanchez/leistungsdaten/spieler/341429) the Londoners’ first-choice XI.

AC Milan, Juventus, and [Jurgen Klopp](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/12/08/jurgen-klopp-confirms-liverpool-have-no-new-injuries/)‘s former club Borussia Dortmund are all credited with an interest in the 24-year-old, although no club has made their interest public as of yet.

The Colombia international has a market value of £40.5m according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davinson-sanchez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/341429)but has [only sporadically been used](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davinson-sanchez/leistungsdaten/spieler/341429) by Jose Mourinho this season.

In fact, when Toby Alderweireld was sidelined recently, Sanchez was overlooked in favour of a [full Premier League debut for Joe Rodon](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2020/november/full-debut-a-dream-come-true-for-rodon/) – leading to speculation over his immediate future in north London.

The 6’1 defender was a [club-record signing when he arrived at Spurs](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/aug/23/tottenham-complete-signing-davinson-sanchez-ajax) from Ajax in 2017 and was [described as a ‘beast’](https://www.besoccer.com/new/pochettino-praises-beast-sanchez-530213#:~:text=Carabao%20Cup,-NEWS%20%7C%20competition%20detail&text=Tottenham%20manager%20Mauricio%20Pochettino%20lauded%20Davinson%20Sanchez%2C%20labelling%20the%20defender,over%20West%20Ham%20on%20Wednesday.) by then-manager Mauricio Pochettino, with his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium lasting until 2023.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

It is perhaps to be expected Liverpool will be linked with any and all potentially unhappy centre-backsas the January window approaches, given the [long-term injury absences](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12130212/joe-gomez-and-virgil-van-dijk-injuries-puts-huge-stress-on-liverpool-squad-says-jamie-redknapp) of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

However, with the two sides currently [level on points at the top of the table](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) before they face off at Anfield next week, it seems unrealistic that Mourinho would sell any of his players to a team who would be considered a major title rival.

Moreover, despite his [defensive qualities](https://totalfootballanalysis.com/player-analysis/davinson-sanchez-tottenham-hotspur-tactical-analysis-statistics#:~:text=Defensive%20attributes,he%20goes%20about%20his%20business.), Sanchez has [never been far away from a mistake](https://thisisfutbol.com/2020/10/blogs/premier-league/tottenham-hotspur-news-spurs-v-west-ham-davinson-sanchez/) during his career at Tottenham.

Having shipped another [error-prone](https://www.90min.com/posts/5971089-liverpool-fan-dedicates-fifty-tweet-thread-to-dejan-lovren-mistakes) defender off their books in the summer in [Dejan Lovren](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53556646), Klopp would be surely reluctant to sign another so soon after.
