# Liverpool lodge bid to sign Alisson from Roma

Liverpool have reportedly made the first move in their attempts to sign Alisson from Roma.

[Il Romanista](https://www.ilromanista.eu/news/as-roma/6851/calciomercato-roma-a-arrivata-lofferta-del-liverpool-per-alisson?platform=hootsuite) claims that the Reds have lodged an official bid to sign the Brazilian this summer.

Liverpool have held an interest in the player for some time but they’re now stepping up their pursuit, with Chelsea also keen.

Sporting director Monchi has reportedly held talks with both clubs over the weekend, with the Brazilian closing in on a move to the Premier League.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are in the market for goalkeepers this summer. The Reds are looking to upgrade on Loris Karius, while Chelsea face the prospect of losing Thibaut Courtois.

Chelsea had been named as favourites to land the player, but it now appears that Liverpool could be leading the race.

Jurgen Klopp had made the Brazilian his number one goalkeeping target this summer, despite suggestions he would not sign a new number one.
