# Liverpool make approach for Luis Muriel

Liverpool are in the market for a striker in the summer and have set their eyes on a Serie A marksman.

[According to reports in Italy](https://www.calciomercato.com/en/news/liverpool-make-contact-over-e28m-serie-a-star-56634), the Reds are set to make an end of season move for Sampdoria forward Luis Muriel.

With Daniel Sturridge expected to leave Anfield in the summer after falling out of favour under Jurgen Klopp, Danny Ings unable to stay fit and Divock Origi’s inability to score consistently at this moment in his career, another forward is needed.

Muriel has been one of the most impressive strikers in Serie A this season, netting 12 goals and nine assists in 31 appearances for Sampdoria, earning him a call-up back into the Colombia squad.

The 25-year-old is the type of striker Klopp craves: pacey, versatile and will be non-stop for the full 90 minutes.

Muriel has a release clause in his contract set at €28m and his manager Marco Giampaolo believes that he will leave the club in the summer.
