# Liverpool monitoring Lyon forward Memphis Depay

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Lyon forward Memphis Depay, four years on after first targeting the Dutch star, the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-eyeing-shock-summer-transfer-14247058) report.

The 25-year-old almost made the move from PSV Eindhoven to Anfield back in 2015, however, the Reds’ rivals Manchester United came in at the last minute and secured the forward’s services for a fee worth £30 million.

However, just two years after arriving at Old Trafford, Depay was once again on the move, this time joining current club Lyon.

The forward has gone on to excel in France over the past two years and has built up a reputation as one of Europe’s biggest stars, which has caught the eye of Liverpool officials once again.

Depay is now valued at around £50 million, and with current Reds star Sadio Mane being linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent weeks, it is thought that Depay has been named as a possible replacement for Mane.

It remains extremely unlikely that Mane will leave Anfield for the Bernabeu in the summer, however, if *Los Blancos*, who are planning a major summer shake-up, do come in with a huge offer, the Reds may well turn their attention to Dutchman Depay.
