# Liverpool need to give players a reason to stay says Klopp

Liverpool have to give players a reason to stay at the club according to manager Jurgen Klopp.

In a report from [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/10/20/jurgen-klopp-confident-liverpool-can-convince-philippe-coutinho/), Klopp was quizzed about the future of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho, with rumours of interest from Barcelona refusing to go away.

The German was asked whether there is a mutual agreement that the player could move on at the end of the season.

> I’ve no clue. We will see. We don’t talk about things like this. Can you imagine what it would be like if I said ‘yes we have an agreement’?

> In this moment, the 100 per cent truth is that nobody thinks about this. We don’t talk about it, why should we? In both cases it would not make sense – no, there is no agreement, yes, there is an agreement. It is not important in the moment. We have other moments when we have to talk about these things but not in October.

> In general, as a club, we have to still create a situation where players want to be part of it with all they have.

Barcelona were heavily linked with a move for the former Inter Milan player throughout the summer and had several bids rejected.

It has been widely reported that the Catalan side could reignite their interest in both January and the summer after Liverpool stood firm and refused to sell so late into the transfer window.

The transfer saga has been likened to that of Luis Suarez, who turned down a move to Arsenal in order to stay at Anfield for an extra year before leaving for the Nou Camp.
