# Liverpool one of 10 clubs chasing exciting youngster Johannesson

Liverpool are one of 10 clubs interested in signing Ísak Bergmann Johannesson, according to *[Expressen](https://www.expressen.se/sport/fotboll/allsvenskan/har-dyker-liverpools-scout-upp-pa-laktaren/)*.

The 17-year-old is a highly-rated young player currently plying his trade at Swedish club IFK Norrkoping, appearing 23 times for them this season.

A report from [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/theres-lot-interest-club-official-confirms-liverpool-one-10-clubs-chasing-midfield-prodigy/) also states that Johannesson has also chipped in with four goals and 10 assists – impressive numbers for such an inexperienced player.

Scouts from a number of sides are believed to have watched the Icelandic teenager in action, although it isn’t specified if Liverpool are one of them.

The Merseysiders are confirmed as being in the hunt for his signature, however, with Johannesson’s future at Norrkoping still up in the air.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Should Liverpool’s interest in the creative midfielder be genuine, it is refreshing to see them being linked with a gifted up-and-coming talent.

The worst thing the Reds could do under Jurgen Klopp is rest on their laurels and allow the team to slowly age over time, with no top-class replacements sorted.

[The likes of](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/startseite/verein/31) Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all now in and around 30 years of age, so they won’t be around forever.

It feels as though Klopp is always planning for the future, though, making sure Liverpool dominate English football for a sustained period, rather than just a short period of time.
