# Liverpool pair close in on long-awaited return

Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both set to return after the international break, according to the [https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-set-major-change-after-15991174](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-set-major-change-after-15991174)*[Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-set-major-change-after-15991174)*.

The report states that Liverpool “could look a different side” when the players return from representing their countries.

Gomez has been missing since December, after breaking his leg away to Burnley, but he will return to full training after the internationals.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, meanwhile, has not featured since damaging his cruciate ligament in season’s Champions League semi-final first leg at home to Roma.

Both players have been monitored very carefully by the club but their return now appears imminent, at a vital stage of the season.

The pair have proven to be key men over the past two seasons, so having them available again is an enormous boost.

Patience with be required with Gomez and Oxlade-Chamberlain and it would no surprise to see them used sparingly between now and the end of the season.

They can play pivotal roles if called upon, though.
