# Liverpool Player Ratings: RB Leipzig (A)

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/17/liverpool-fans-praise-trent-alexander-arnolds-display-in-leipzig-win/)seized the opportunity to gain some respite from their Premier League woes as the Reds delivered a vastly improved display to [overcome RB Leipzig 2-0](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/match/2029475--leipzig-vs-liverpool/postmatch/report/) in Hungary.

Both goals came in the second half when [Mohamed Salah pounced on a misplaced pass](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/426052-watch-highlights-leipzig-liverpool-champions-league)across the Leipzig defence to open the scoring before[Sadio Mane](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/10/remarkable-statistic-sums-up-sadio-manes-struggles-this-season/) ran in behind Nordi Mukiele, who failed to clear, to cooly double the lead.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had cut a familiar figure from the outset with their [high tempo pressing](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8790523/Premier-Leagues-press-masters-Jurgen-Klopps-Liverpool-kings-harrying-opposition.html)and sharpness of passing causing a whole end of problems for their German hosts in the neutral Puskas Arena.

Leipzig had chances early in both halves but overall Liverpool were close to [their formidable best](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/426050-jurgen-klopp-reaction-leipzig-liverpool-champions-league) and could barely have wished for a better result to take into the[second leg](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2020-21/first-team/fixtures-and-results).

The Reds will now hope this result isn’t a false dawn as the[Premier League reaches the business end](https://www.premierleague.com/tables)with top four a minimum requirement.
