# Liverpool Predicted XI: Manchester City (H)

Although it’s not quite the last chance saloon, Anfield this evening represents as close as it gets as [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/05/liverpool-fans-rejoice-jurgen-klopp-confirms-mane-alisson-fabinho-training/) look to resurrect their Premier League title defence against Manchester City.

Having suffered [back-to-back home defeats](https://www.skysports.com/liverpool-results), an unthinkable feat [little more than a fortnight ago](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55657090), the Reds have to quickly get back on track if they are going to stand a chance of retaining their hard-earned status as champions.

[Jurgen Klopp](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/04/jurgen-klopp-hopeful-sadio-mane-fit-to-face-man-city/)‘s side have enjoyed success in this fixture in recent times, with memorable victories aplenty both [domestically](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50278816) and in the [Champions League](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43632176#:~:text=Liverpool%20took%20a%20firm%20grip,first%2031%20minutes%20at%20Anfield.).

However, owing to an absence of impassioned fans and a [crippling injury list](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-injury-news-latest-list-alisson-thiago-alexander-arnold-robertson-henderson-780156), Klopp’s charges [haven’t looked capable](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) of keeping pace with today’s visitors so far this season.

A win against Pep Guardiola’s side mightn’t make Liverpool title favourites, but it would go a long way towards reigniting the belief that they can retain their Premier League crown.

With key players [returning to training this week](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/424995-jurgen-klopp-manchester-city-injury-update-mane-fabinho-alisson) and [two new centre-backs](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/transfers/verein/31/plus/1?saison_id=2020&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=w) in situ, here’s how we think Klopp will line up, with four changes from the [team which started against Brighton](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3429710)…
