# Liverpool predicted XI: Manchester United (H)

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/15/wijnaldum-gives-green-light-for-barcelona-january-move/) face arch-rivals Manchester United at [Anfield](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/15/andy-cole-hails-special-anfield-atmosphere/) this evening in a blockbuster top-of-the-table clash.

As if a fixture between [England’s two most successful clubs](https://talksport.com/football/550782/most-trophies-england-liverpool-manchester-united-european-cup-title/) needed additional incentives, the victors will either remain top in the case of United or return to the [summit of the table](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=274&ha=-1) in the case of the Reds.

Having been slightly derailed recently both in [terms of performance and results](https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/liverpool/form-guide), Jurgen Klopp will be desperate for his side to recalibrate in what is the [biggest clash of the 2020/21](https://www.skysports.com/liverpool-results) season to date.

The German has seen his squad[decimated at times by injury](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-injury-news-latest-list-alisson-thiago-alexander-arnold-robertson-henderson-780156) and will be hoping for a change in fortunes as the second half of the campaign comes around.

However, in the meantime, he must ensure that the [defending Premier League champions](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53183857) remain within shooting distance of the title as players slowly but surely [begin to return](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-injury-news-diogo-jota-19627642) from injuries.

The build-up to this clash has perhaps been heightened more than most of late, as the club from down the East Lancashire road head to Merseyside in a [far better place](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12184986/man-utd-could-top-premier-league-table-with-draw-at-burnley-how-long-since-your-club-was-top-after-new-years-day) than in recent years.
