# Liverpool reject Huddersfield approach for Danny Ward

Liverpool have rejected Huddersfield’s approach to sign Danny Ward according to a report from [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3143901/liverpool-reject-huddersfield-move-for-goalkeeper-danny-ward-sources).

The Terriers were keen to re-sign the Welsh shot-stopper after he played an influential part in their promotion to the Premier League.

Ward made crucial saves during both the semi-final and play-off final penalty shoot outs for Huddersfield and would be a welcomed return.

Jurgen Klopp has dealt his good friend David Wagner an early blow by rejecting their bid to sign Ward permanently.

The report suggests that Klopp would like to keep Ward in and around the first-team squad next season to fight for a place.

Alex Manninger retired from professional football at the end of the season, leaving Liverpool with just two senior goalkeepers.

Previous reports have suggested that Klopp wants to give Ward the chance to impress during pre-season before deciding his future, which may not rule out a loan move back to Huddersfield later in the transfer window.
