# Liverpool reject Southampton loan offer for Sakho

Liverpool have rejected Southampton’s loan bid for out-of-favour defender Mamadou Sakho, as per a report from Neil Jones of the [Liverpool Echo.](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-reject-southamptons-mamadou-sakho-12475957)

Sakho has been the subject of an offer from Claude Puel and his men, who are looking to bring the Frenchman to the club on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

Saints have been holding an interest in Sakho for some time now but this is the first genuine sign of that interest, and it does look as though they are keen to bring the central defender to St Mary’s.

Sakho hasn’t played a minute of senior, competitive football this season after a falling out with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp during the club’s pre-season tour to America.

He has featured five times for Liverpool’s Under-23’s this year but looks certain to be on the way out of the club this month

If the Saints are genuinely looking to bring Sakho to St Mary’s, they may have to cough up the £20 million that Liverpool value him at.
