# Liverpool release five players

Liverpool have submitted their free transfers list to the Premier League ahead of next season.

Being placed on this list does not necessarily mean a player is leaving; they can still negotiate new deals with the club.

The Reds have placed five players on this list, here’s a brief summary of all five:

**Steven Gerrard**

So, this one isn’t a surprise! Steven Gerrard’s time at Liverpool finally came to an end after an unbelievable career.

The ex-captain is joining MLS side LA Galaxy next season.

**Glen Johnson**

Liverpool signed Johnson from Portsmouth in 2009, and initially played well.

However in recent years, Johnson’s performances have been poor, and it’s no suprise that he’s being released.

**Brad Jones**

Another release we knew of ahead of time. Jones revealed he was leaving earlier this year. Origianlly it was reported that he’d been offered a new deal, but apparently that wasn’t the case.

Jones was given a chance to stake a claim for a first team spot during the 2014/15 season, but he didn’t perform well and was unable to get back into the side after returning from injury.

**Jordan** **Lussey**

Jordan Lussey has been at the Liverpool Academy since 2002 and was a regular member of the Under-21 team. He joined Bolton Wanderers on a youth loan deal until the end of the 2014-15 season.

The 20-year-old is a former Under-18s captain, but looks like he’s leaving Liverpool.

> Big thankyou to everyone for their kind messages. I loved every minute of my 13 years at [@LFC](https://twitter.com/LFC). I'm looking forward to the future.

**Marc** **Pelosi**

Pelosi arrived at Liverpool from DeAnza Force Club in California.

Liverpool’s scouts saw the American during the 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Mexico where he captained his country.

Pelosi battled back from a terrible broken leg and at one stage was said to be close to a first team call-up.
