# Liverpool have sent a physio on international duty with Sadio Mane

Liverpool have sent club physio Scott McAuley to Africa with Sadio Mane as the forward joins up with Senegal for their two World Cup qualifiers against South Africa.

As reported by Chris Bascombe of the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/11/08/liverpool-send-physio-sadio-mane-international-duty/), the Reds wanted McAuley with Mane to ensure that he does not suffers any setbacks as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem.

Mane made an early return for Liverpool as they defeated West Ham at the London Stadium at the weekend but he’s still not 100% fit and the Reds are concerned that he could re-injure himself if he’s not correctly manage.

The Senegal Football Association were happy to let McAuley travel with Mane as they want him fully fit too, so there is no worry about a club v country clash here.

Senegal need just two points from the two games with South Africa to ensure a place at the World Cup and Liverpool are hopeful that if Senegal win the first game, they’ll allow Mane to miss the second.
