# Liverpool still interested in summer move for centre-back David Carmo

Liverpool are still interested in signing Braga centre-back David Carmo this summer, according to *[Jornal de Notícias](https://www.jn.pt/)* \[via [*Sport Witness*](https://sportwitness.co.uk/club-expecting-record-sale-summer-turning-liverpools-first-january-bid-defender/)\].

The Reds were [linked](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1356228994597871622?s=20) with a January move for the 21-year-old, but they ended up bringing in [Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55897340) instead.

Since then, Carmo has suffered a [horrific leg injury](https://talksport.com/football/832719/manchester-united-liverpool-target-david-carmo-injury-braga-ambulance-breaks-down/) in a game against Porto, but that doesn’t appear to have put off Liverpool.

This latest report claims that Jurgen Klopp is still keen on making him a summer addition and he could end up becoming Braga’s biggest-ever sale in the process, eclipsing the €31million they sold Francisco Trincao to Barcelona for last year.

Given the nature of Carmo’s injury, it would be a huge risk to sign him, especially considering Liverpool’s other [fitness woes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/sperrenundverletzungen/verein/31) at the back, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all out for the rest of the season.

The Reds need to be signing someone with a good injury record who is ready to come in and be a reliable player immediately.

Carmo is undoubtedly a talented young defender, but there are plenty of other options out there that could make more sense, in that respect, considering what has cruelly happened to him recently.
