# Liverpool target Havertz leaves door open for summer move

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has seemingly been handed a summer transfer boost after Bayer Leverkusen forward and Reds target Kai Havertz refused to rule out a move away from the Bundesliga in a recent interview.

The 19-year-old is regarded as one of Europe’s hottest prospects and is already approaching 100 appearances for Leverkusen after making his first-team debut at the age of 17.

The highly-rated forward has been a regular since making his debut two years ago and has scored 21 goals for the club to date.

As a result of Havertz’s eye-catching performances, Liverpool, along with German giants Bayern Munich and Premier League rivals Arsenal are all monitoring the youngster’s situation.

And talking to Eurosport, cited by [FourFourTwo](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/kai-havertz-arsenal-bayer-leverkusen-target-leaves-door-open-summer-transfer), the teenager dropped a hint regarding his future, admitting he knows what he wants to happen in the summer.

> I know that I have a contract here and I want to do everything I can to help us qualify for international competition next season.

> There is a lot of speculation, but I still have a contract here until 2022. In the summer we will know more.

> I do not believe everything that’s in the paper. There’s a lot of talk in general, some things are true, some are not, I personally am good with the headlines because I know what I want.

Klopp, who previously managed in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, could well play a key role in persuading Havertz to move to Anfield, if the two clubs can agree a deal in the summer.
