# Liverpool target Kayky rejects contract amid European interest

[Liverpoo](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/28/liverpool-fans-wary-ibrahima-konate-transfer-links/)l’s Brazilian contingent could be strengthened in the near future as reported Reds target [Kayky](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/27/liverpool-fans-excited-kayky-transfer-rumours/) rejected a contract renewal at Fluminense, according to [UOL](https://www.uol.com.br/esporte/futebol/ultimas-noticias/gazeta-esportiva/2021/01/26/fluminense-perto-de-perder-kayky-para-o-shakhtar.htm).

The report claims that the teenager is ‘getting closer and closer to European football’ amid interest from the Premier League champions and Shakhtar Donetsk, a [regular home-from-home](https://www.90min.com/posts/shakhtar-donetsk-10-best-brazilian-players-ever-ranked) for Brazilian footballers.

Still just 17 years old, Kayky would be unable to move until the summer when he turns 18.

A winger who has represented [Brazil at youth level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kayky/nationalmannschaft/spieler/668265/verein_id/23130) is described as having [similarities to superstar](https://jogada10.com.br/fluminense/conheca-o-neymar-canhoto-da-base-do-fluminense/) and compatriot Neymar, the teenager’s current deal with Fluminense expires in December 2022.

The Reds have recent history with signing players from the Brasileiro Série A club, having [signed young goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12099175/liverpool-sign-brazilian-goalkeeper-marcelo-pitaluga) in October.

Signing Kayky would be yet more proof of Liverpool not resting on their laurels in terms of planning for the future.

Recently, the Reds have landed a host of talented teenagers [including Callum Scanlon](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfer-calum-scanlon-breaking-19515542) and Stefan Bajcetic, and are [close to securing a deal](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12199260/liverpool-transfer-news-premier-league-champions-close-to-signing-derby-teenager-kaide-gordon) for Derby teenager Jaide Gordon.

With another teenager on Liverpool’s books out on loan and [tearing up the Championship](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/leistungsdaten/spieler/565822) in Harvey Elliott, the future looks bright for the young Reds.
