# Liverpool target Lemar rejects new deal at Monaco

Liverpool’s pursuit of Monaco star Thomas Lemar has been well documented for some time now.

The Frenchman has been on the Reds’ radar for two transfer windows now and with Liverpool having failed to replace Philippe Coutinho in January, they could make a move for Lemar in the summer.

If they do go ahead with this move, they may well find themselves to be in with a fighting chance of securing his services. According to a report from leading French news outlet L’Equipe, as cited by [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/transfer-news-arsenal-and-liverpool-target-thomas-lemar-rejects-news-monaco-deal-reports), Lemar has turned down an improved contract offer from Monaco.

Lemar has established himself as one of the best players in Ligue 1 over the course of the last 18 months and this has inevitably attracted interest from Premier League clubs, such as Liverpool.

Monaco want to retain Lemar’s services and his contract expires in the summer of 2020. However, he does want to reconsider his options when the 2017/18 season ends, and Liverpool will surely be an option for the wide man.
