# Rumoured Liverpool target Giovanni Reyna could stay put at Dortmund

Reported Liverpool transfer target Giovanni Reyna is likely to stay put at Borussia Dortmund, judging by an interview he gave to [Bild](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bvb-juwel-giovanni-reyna-wird-profi-millionaer-in-einem-monat-alles-klar-73414382,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html) \[via *[TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/reyna-just-having-fun-at-borussia-dortmund)*\].

The 17-year-old has caught the eye for Dortmund since arriving from New York City in 2019, [scoring once and registering three assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/389087/Show/Giovanni-Reyna) in the Bundesliga this season.

Reyna has been [reported](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/klopp-hat-bvb-talent-auf-dem-zettel-zorc-legt-reyna-an-die-kette-73031180,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html) to have been on Jurgen Klopp’s radar in recent weeks and they could still be interested, but seemingly to no avail.

According to [Bild](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bvb-juwel-giovanni-reyna-wird-profi-millionaer-in-einem-monat-alles-klar-73414382,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html), Dortmund are keen for the attacking midfielder to sign a new deal in order to tie down one of their most exciting young players. It could be that he signs an extension when he turns 18 later this month, potentially acting as a blow to Liverpool’s chances of signing him.

Reyna himself seems happy to stay put at Signal Iduna Park, telling [Bild](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bvb-juwel-giovanni-reyna-wird-profi-millionaer-in-einem-monat-alles-klar-73414382,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html) that playing for Dortmund “is really fun” and adding that he and fellow young talents Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho “have a good time together on and off the field”.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

It is vital that Klopp keep looking towards the future rather than resting on his laurels and allowing his team to grow old almost without realising.

If Liverpool are to enjoy a spell of real dominance in English football, the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane need to be replaced with similarly prodigious footballers in the long-term.

For that reason, Reyna would seem a hugely exciting addition, considering he is still only 17 and is already [a key squad member](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/44/Show/Germany-Borussia-Dortmund) for one of the biggest teams in Europe.

He may seem very content at Dortmund right now, but that doesn’t mean Liverpool should cool their interest in him in case that changes in the months ahead.
