# Liverpool team news reaction: Burnley (H)

Liverpool host Burnley in just under an hour’s time in a game where nothing less than a win will be good enough.

Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the table to four points by beating Watford and Liverpool must match their result and reduce the gap back down to one point.

Jurgen Klopp has made two changes to the team that drew 0-0 with Everton, with Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana coming in for Divock Origi and Jordan Henderson.

The Firmino inclusion was a no-brainer. When he’s fully fit, he plays. Origi did well against Watford at home but Firmino is on a different level to the Belgian so no issues there.

I welcome the addition of a more attack-minded midfielder coming into the side, but I’m surprised the manager has opted to pick Lallana instead of Naby Keita and perhaps even Xherdan Shaqiri.

I’ve got no problem with Henderson missing out, even though he played well in the derby. Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum have been in great form and I’m excited to see those two link up again.

I’d have liked to have seen Keita get the nod over Lallana but there’s obviously a reason why both he and Shaqiri aren’t playing at the minute.

In Shaqiri’s case, Klopp has already explained that he’s not comfortable using him as an out-and-our midfielder yet and if he’s sticking with the 4-3-3 then Shaq will always miss out, although there is an argument to be made that 4-2-3-1 would work well at home.

On Keita, I’m less sure what the reasoning is. It might be something to do with Burnley’s physicality but Keita did well at Turf Moor earlier this season.

I’m happy to see a more attack-minded midfielder in the side but I’d have much preferred Keita to Lallana.

I was a big Lallana fan a few years ago but the modern version of the midfielder doesn’t do enough to affect games in a positive manner. Let’s hope that changes today!
