# Liverpool tell Loris Karius that he is not needed

Liverpool have told goalkeeper Loris Karius that he is surplus to requirements at the club, according to [Goal.](https://www.goal.com/en/news/liverpool-offer-teenage-goalkeeper-cendon/x1pgc3vyd1qm1d1gcad6pyjaq)

The Reds hope to find a buyer for the 27-year-old goalkeeper this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks set to stick with Adrian as his back-up.

Karius spent the past two seasons on loan at Turkish club Besiktas, where he endured a turbulent time and although he had a slight resurgence in form, critics, controversy, and rows over unpaid wages marred his time with the Super Lig club.

During his time away from Anfield, Liverpool claimed the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the Premier League.

Despite arriving from Klopp’s former employers Mainz 05 in 2016 when he was given the number one spot, Karis has seen his stock fall dramatically since that ill-fated night in Kyiv, where the German stopper was culpable for two of Real Madrid’s goals.

It now seems almost certain we have seen the last of Karis in a Liverpool shirt. With interest from French Ligue 1 side Montpellier as well as other European clubs, all parties will be desperate to find an amicable solution for the once highly thought of keeper.
