# Liverpool prepare new Clyne bid

Liverpool are ready to make an improved bid for Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne, who wants a new challenge according to *The Mirror*.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring the 24-year-old to Anfield and could do so for around £12m.

Paul Joyce of *The Express* has suggested that the Saints are looking for a replacement for Clyne, who is set to move to Liverpool.

The Reds have been in the market for a new right-back with Glen Johnson leaving the club and Jon Flanagan still on the comeback from a serious injury.

The England international defender could be the fourth player to join Liverpool from Southampton in the last year or so; following on from Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.

Reports earlier in the off season suggested that Liverpool had a £9m bid for Clyne rejected by Southampton, but will hope to succeed with this next offer.

Clyne only had one season remaining on his contract with Southampton, which is why the price was less what Manchester United had to pay for Luke Shaw last year.
