# Liverpool to scout Turkish goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir

Liverpool will have scouts present at Trabzonspor’s Super Lig meeting against Besiktas this weekend, with the Reds stepping up their interest in goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

According to Fanatik, relayed in an article by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-sending-official-player-agent-confirms-talks-reds/), Liverpool scouts will be at the Akyazi Arena to monitor Cakir, who has been tipped as Simon Mignolet’s Anfield replacement.

The 23-year-old has featured in 23 games for Trabzonspor this season and has been[linked with a move to the Reds in recent days](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/05/16/ugurcan-cakirs-agent-reveals-liverpool-interest/), along with French outfit Lille and German side Schalke.

The shot stopper’s agent also confirmed that Liverpool officials have spoken to him, however, no official bid has been made for the player.

> I know Lille and Schalke are following him. Liverpool are also interested in him. Liverpool officials have talked with us, we had some contacts, but no official offer has come from them.

Mignolet looks set to end his six-year association with Liverpool in the summer as he seeks regular first-team opportunities, and it appears as if the Reds could make a move for Cakir as his replacement very soon if he impresses this weekend.
