# Liverpool told to pay €70million for Ferro

Liverpool have been told by Benfica that star defender Ferro will cost €70million this summer.

The Reds were linked with a loan move for the 21-year-old two years ago, but a transfer never materialised.

Reports on Monday suggested the Reds were back in for the highly-rated centre-back, though.

Although Ferro’s release clause is now a huge €100million, Benfica will allow him to leave for less, according to [https://www.calciomercato.com/news/liverpool-ecco-quanto-costa-ferro-81524](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/liverpool-ecco-quanto-costa-ferro-81524)*[Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/liverpool-ecco-quanto-costa-ferro-81524)*.

Jurgen Klopp is thought to see the Portuguese as an ideal man to bring in this summer, in terms of his all-round profile.

Without question marks surrounding the long-term qualities of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren, as well as Joe Gomez’s ongoing fitness issues, a new top class centre-back is required at Anfield.

Ferro only broke into the Benfica first team a month ago but he is one of Portugal’s most exciting young players.

Klopp may not be willing to stump up a much as €70million for his services, but that is likely to become clearer over time.
