# Liverpool transfer news as fresh Alexis Mac Allister claim emerges

**Alexis Mac Allister looks like he’s back to his best under Andoni Iraola after an underwhelming 2025-26 campaign for Liverpool.**

The Argentine midfielder also fared quite well at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has been vocal about how things are different at Anfield this season.

However, his current deal runs out in 2028 and so far, the Reds have not offered him a new deal.

And Ben Jacobs reports that contract talks are not in the pipeline.

## Liverpool not planning new Alexis Mac Allister contract

“As things stand, Liverpool do not intend to offer Alexis Mac Allister a new contract,” said Jacobs via GiveMeSport’s market madness podcast.

“They will be looking for at least one midfielder in 2027. They like Alex Scott, but Chelsea consider themselves favourites for the January window.

“Lamine Camara and Manu Koné also have admirers within the Anfield hierarchy.”

A lot could change between now and the end of the season as it’s still early doors.

However, it goes without saying that Liverpool need a new midfielder regardless of what happens with Mac Allister’s future.

If the Argentine gets a new deal before the end of the season, he will remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

Otherwise, Liverpool are likely to part with him next summer as opposed to losing him for free a year later.
