# Liverpool watching Torres as Valencia exit beckons

Liverpool are said to be keeping tabs on the status of Valencia winger Ferran Torres, as rumours of his move away from the club continue.

With a series of La Liga appearances under his belt at the age of 18, the youngster did enough to warrant significant interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid in the winter transfer window, but no bid came from either side.

However, [it is now understood](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/927112/Real-Madrid-news-Ferran-Torres-rejects-Barcelona-Bernabeu-transfer-Valencia-La-Liga-gossip) that Barcelona have put forward an offer for the Spaniard’s services, although rivals Real Madrid are said to be preparing a counter-offer.

Amidst all this, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague is reporting that Liverpool are said to be keeping a keen watch over the sought after Torres.

With a combined nine league and cup appearances this season, the prodigy has turned in a pair of assists, and generated serious excitement around his future.

As Valencia preempted this competition for their phenom, they wisely raised the forward’s release clause from £7 million to £22 million in October.

If the struggle to sign Torres ends up alienating the Spain under-19 star, Liverpool set to profit from the fallout – pinching a player from under the noses of the two biggest names in European football.
