# Liverpool youngster Adekanye to join Lazio on a free

Liverpool youngster Bobby Adekanye is preparing to join Serie A side Lazio on a free transfer at the end of the season.

[According to the Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-set-lose-academy-star-15605741), the young Dutch winger will swap Anfield for Italy after becoming disillusioned with life on Merseyside.

It is being reported that the player is seeking a new challenge in his career and has now agreed pre-contract terms with Lazio.

In Italy, he will join up with former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva, who joined the Serie A side after leaving Anfield.

Liverpool had been hoping to keep hold of Adekanye, with the winger highly-rated, but it is hard to see a natural path to the first-team squad for the player.

He arrived at the club with high expectations, but injuries and a real lack of consistency at acedemy level have held the player’s development back.
