# Liverpool earn extra £4.3million in Coutinho deal

Liverpool have earned an extra £4.3million after a clause in Philippe Coutinho’s Barcelona contract was triggered, report the [https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-coutinho-barcelona-transfer-deal-16251944](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-coutinho-barcelona-transfer-deal-16251944)*[Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-coutinho-barcelona-transfer-deal-16251944)*.

Coutinho returned to Anfield for the first time since his exit on Tuesday night, but it ended up being a nightmare for him.

The Brazilian made no impact against his former club, as a remarkable comeback took place and Liverpool reached the Champions League final at Barcelona’s expense.

It has been revealed that the Reds have received £4.3million (€5m) because Ernesto Valverde’s side reached the quarter-finals of the competition this season.

It is a deal that is increasingly looking like a superb one from a Liverpool perspective, having sold Coutinho for £142million in January 2018.

The 26-year-old has been a flop at the Nou Camp, while the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson and Fabinho have arrived at Anfield since he departed.

Coutinho himself may now have a tinge of regret about leaving Liverpool, considering their current situation.
