# Lucas Ocampos ‘keen’ on Liverpool switch

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/23/liverpool-fans-divided-over-transfer-links-to-youssef-en-nesyri/)‘s pursuit of Sevilla winger [Lucas Ocampos](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/22/liverpool-plan-takumi-minamino-lucas-ocampos-swap-deal/) may have been handed a boost after a fresh report from Argentina claimed that the 26-year-old is ‘keen’ on the move.

Having originally been cited in Spanish publication [La Razon](https://www.larazon.es/laotraliga/20210219/vb7sncv6kzc5bhffmsmx46uxcq.html) as a potential target for the Reds, who would use Takumi Minamino as a makeweight, this new report from the winger’s homeland publication [El Intrasigente](https://elintransigente.com/2021/02/64-millones-de-euros-la-descomunal-suma-de-dinero-que-esta-por-recibir-river-gracias-al-liverpool-de-klopp/) suggests that a deal could be done.

The report outlined that [Ocampos’ former club River Plate](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lucas-ocampos/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/189441) maintain a vested interest in the Sevilla man’s next move due to a clause that means they could be set for a payday.

Ocampos has been an [integral part of the La Liga side](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lucas-ocampos/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/189441) for some time now and helped to inspire [last season’s Europa League success](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lucas-ocampos/erfolge/spieler/189441).

[Capped five times by Argentina](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lucas-ocampos/nationalmannschaft/spieler/189441/verein_id/3437), the cultured ace – who is [equally adept with either foot](https://www.sofascore.com/player/lucas-ocampos/155702) – was previously [wanted](https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=134&v=1Rb4VrQIrgI&feature=youtu.be) by Liverpool’s Merseyside rivals Everton before joining Sevilla, where he was named the [signing of the season](https://www.football-espana.net/2020/07/21/sevilla-star-lucas-ocampos-voted-as-best-la-liga-signing) in La Liga for 2019/20.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Under contract until 2024 and with a steep release cause [believed to be set at £62m](https://www.skysports.com/app/transfer/news/11699/12053707/lucas-ocampos-wolves-interested-in-sevilla-winger-as-potential-adama-traore-replacement), a desire from the player to join as well as Minamino heading in the other direction could be important in making this deal a reality.

The signing of Ocampos would be a step in the right direction as [Jurgen Klopp looks to build a squad](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/liverpool-transfer-news-reds-set-for-summer-fire-sale-as-jurgen-klopp-plans-rebuild) to mount a sustained title challenge once again next season.

Recently, Sevilla’s director of football Monchi [expressed his desire](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/minamino-podria-hueco-liga-sevilla-salzburgo-liverpool-southampton-lopetegui-monchi-20210214.html) to sign the Japanese international and there could be a deal to be done there.
