# Lucas: We’re getting a goalscorer in Firmino

Lucas Leiva believes that Roberto Firmino’s arrival will help address Liverpool’s problems in front of goal.

The Hoffenheim man will undergo a medical at Melwood after the Copa America tournament in Chile, where he is currently representing Brazil.

The 23-year-old claimed 16 goals in 33 outings during his penultimate campaign in the Bundesliga, before netting eight times last season.

Lucas believes his fellow Brazilian will be among the goals at Anfield after admitting that the Reds were in need of someone who can hit the back of the net with regularity.

*“I think we are getting a goalscorer, which we probably needed from last year because we didn’t score many goals,”* he told Liverpoolfc.com.

*“I think he showed the last couple of seasons that he’s capable of doing that.*

*“He’s already playing for the national team, which is good, and we just hope that he can adapt quickly to the Premier League.*

*“But we see the example of Emre Can, he adapted very well because I think the German league is quite similar to the Premier League, so hopefully he will go straight in and start to perform.”*

Liverpool’s other attack-minded Brazilian Philippe Coutinho is with Firmino at the Copa America, and both have been instrumental in helping them reach the last eight.

Lucas thinks that the fact they are already familiar with one another will be a good thing for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

*“With the national team they are working together and they will start the season at Liverpool knowing each other which will only help them both,”* he added.

*“They both are young players but they are already playing at the highest level so it’s really exciting.*

*“For me, as a Brazilian as well, I will just try to make \[Roberto\] feel comfortable as I did with Coutinho.*

*“Then hopefully we will see him scoring a lot of goals for the club.”*
