# Madrid tell Liverpool that Asensio is not for sale

Marco Asensio will not be leaving Real Madrid this summer, despite interest from Liverpool.

[Sport](https://www.sport-english.com/en/news/real-madrid/real-madrids-message-to-liverpool-asensio-isnt-for-sale-6913319) report that the European giants have sent a clear message to the Reds – the player is not for sale this summer.

Reports had linked Liverpool with an ambitious move to land the Spanish youngster this summer when he was less than convincing whilst being quizzed about his future in Spain.

However, it now appears the young midfielder has a clear future at the Bernabeu.

The report claims that the club still value the player and see him as a key member of their squad for the long-term.

They also suggest, that despite the reported [interest](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2018/06/27/real-madrid-are-willing-to-sell-reported-liverpool-target-marco-asensio/) from Liverpool, the player is not interested in a move to Anfield.

The Spanish international is under contract in Madrid until 2023 and as a huge €700 million release clause in the deal.

Liverpool have also been linked with Nabil Fekir and Hakim Ziyech as they go in search of a direct replacement for Philippe Coutinho this summer.
