# Mainz interested in re-signing Loris Karius

Bundesliga club Mainz are reportedly interested in re-signing Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius this summer.

The German is on loan at Besiktas but has struggled to make an impression, with his future in Turkey now in doubt.

Karius joined Besiktas on a two-year loan deal last summer but could see his temporary stay cut short halfway through, as the Super Lig club look elsewhere for goalkeeping options.

However, the shot-stopper could be set for an immediate move back to Germany in the summer, with Aksam, as translated in a report from [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-player-return-former-club-reds-open-deal/), claiming that Mainz are considering recruiting their former man.

The 25-year-old’s move back to the Bundesliga would reportedly depend on whether or not Besiktas opt to terminate his loan spell, with Karius evidently surplus to Jurgen Klopp’s requirements at Anfield.

Alisson has tied down the number one spot at Liverpool following his move last summer, while Simon Mignolet is regarded as a reliable backup to the Brazilian.
