# Man United join Liverpool and Arsenal in the hunt to sign Nuno Mendes

Manchester United have joined Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Nuno Mendes, according to *[Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.it/2020/10/12/calciomercato-milan-esclusivo-nuno-mendes-sporting/)*, via *[Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-arsenal-and-man-united-chasing-same-player-club-set-conditions-to-sanction-sale/)*.

The Sporting CP left-back is on the radar of the three Premier League rivals, but AC Milan are also mooted as a potential suitor.

Mendes, who is still just 18, has made [two appearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/395221/Show/Nuno-Mendes) for Sporting in the Primeira Liga this season, as well as nine in 2019/20.

It is stated that the Portuguese giants have no intention of selling the defender in the near future, however.

Planning for the future is essential at Liverpool, so it is exciting to see the Reds linked with such an exciting young talent.

At present, Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas represent two excellent options at left-back, but ensuring long-term replacements are sorted would be a shrewd approach.

Yasser Larouci has been [tipped](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfer-deadline-efl-loan-19087663) to join Norwich City on a permanent deal and Adam Lewis is currently [on loan](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/academy/405851-adam-lewis-joins-amiens-sc-on-loan) at Ligue 2 club Amiens SC, so Mendes could be viewed as an upgrade moving forward.

He is already more experienced than the Liverpool pair, despite being younger than both, and the level of interest in him suggests he has a higher ceiling.
