# Marco Silva confident ahead of Merseyside derby

Marco Silva says he is confident about Everton’s chances of victory in Sunday’s Merseyside derby.

The Blues host Liverpool looking not only for their first win in the fixture since 2010, but also attempting to dent their rivals’ Premier League title hopes in the process.

Jurgen Klopp’s side head to Goodison Park as strong favourites to earn all three points, but derby meetings can often prove to be unpredictable affairs.

Everton returned after 17 days without a game on Tuesday night, cruising to an impressive 3-0 win at Cardiff City.

It suggests the long break has done Silva’s side the world of good, and [speaking](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marco-silva-fires-liverpool-warning-15904717) ahead of Sunday’s clash he says his team are in a good place:

> Confidence was something we were missing and we need it be more consistent as a team and not go up and down every time.

> We achieved this in one part of the season, from the beginning until December.

> I hope the Cardiff result can give us the boost we need and we all want to achieve a good result again on Sunday.

It is another pivotal afternoon in the title race, with Liverpool’s credentials set to be tested yet again.

A win would feel significant, in what is their toughest remaining away game of the season.
