# Mark Lawrenson predicts comfortable Liverpool success

Former [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/17/paul-robinson-predicts-january-transfer-for-divock-origi/) defender Mark Lawrenson has predicted a comfortable victory for the Reds at Anfield this afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp’s side welcome a rejuvenated Crystal Palace under Patrick Viera to Merseyside on the back of an [impressive victory](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58436965) last weekend.

Meanwhile, Klopp’s charges remained unbeaten domestically and [picked up a win](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58561430) on the opening UEFA Champions League night against AC Milan in midweek.

Writing for his weekly prediction column on [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58503412), Lawrenson backed the hosts to be too strong for the visiting Eagles.

> Liverpool have had a good week so far with wins over Leeds and AC Milan and I can only see that run continuing here. Crystal Palace got a great result last week when they completely outplayed Tottenham, but I think they are going to be a little bit up and down for a while yet.

The 64-year-old nailed his colours to the mast with a 3-1 win whilst [fellow predictors](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58503412) were slightly more reserved in their expectations.

On Friday, Klopp [confirmed](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/443729-roberto-firmino-fitness-latest) that Liverpool would be without the services of Roberto Firmino for the clash as the Brazilian continues to recover from a hamstring issue.

Making the L4 home a [fortress once again](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9176765/Where-does-Liverpools-68-game-unbeaten-home-run-rank-Premier-League-history.html) with fans back in situ is an important part of any challenge the Reds can mount this season.

With the likes of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota [looking sharp](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/leistungsdaten/spieler/148455), Klopp’s men will be confident of overpowering their visitors today.

One man who has been relatively wasteful thus far is Sadio Mane, missing a [host of chances](https://www.planetfootball.com/videos/watch-liverpools-sadio-mane-somehow-misses-open-goal-against-leeds/) against Leeds United.

But, the Senegalese ace boasts a superb record when facing Palace – scoring [12 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sadio-mane/bilanzdetails/spieler/200512/gegner/873) in 14 outings – and will be hoping to continue that trend.
