# McManaman makes big transfer claim about Salah and Mane

Steve McManaman fully expects Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to remain as Liverpool players this summer, despite reported interest from Spain.

The African superstars are two of the poster boys of the Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield, wreaking havoc in the final third over the past four seasons.

Despite the odd report linking [Salah](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/27/real-madrid-eye-salah-as-cheaper-alternative-to-mbappe/) and [Mane](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/12/24/real-madrid-reportedly-planning-summer-move-for-mane/) with a Liverpool exit, McManaman is not concerned.

Speaking to the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-mohamed-salah-sadio-mane-laliga-steve-mcmanaman-a4393296.html), the Reds’ legend said he doesn’t see them going anywhere for the time being:

> Well Real Madrid already have Eden Hazard, they bought Rodrygo last summer and they’ve just invested in Reinier in January, so I’d take rumours like that with a pinch of salt,” he told HorseRacing.net.

> Regardless of how the Champions League turns out this season, the best teams in the world at present are the English teams. Real Madrid and Barcelona are not.

> They both want to start again and bring in a few new players because they’ve both had disappointing seasons this year, so they’re going to start turning their squads over.

> Despite this, I don’t think there’s any chance of either Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah going to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

It is vital that Liverpool keep hold of Salah and Mane this summer, ensuring they continue to build as a team.

There was a time when the Reds seemingly sold their best players every year, from Xabi Alonso to Luis Suarez, but they are now in a position where key man should want to stay, considering they won the Champions League last season and could seal Premier League glory this year.

Salah and Mane are bordering on irreplaceable, considering the impact they have made at Anfield, scoring a combined [168 goals](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/Profile/1317) in [305 appearances](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/Profile/1303).

It may be that one moves on eventually, in search of one more big move in their career, but they remain integral to Liverpool’s success for the time being.
