Simon Mignolet will make his long-awaited return to first-team football against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

The Liverpool boss could the cup competitions to rest a number of first-team players and Alisson is set to be given the night off.

The Belgian shot-stopper has not played for Liverpool since January when the Reds faced West Brom in the FA Cup.

Loris Karius appeared to cement his place as the club’s number one last season, before being moved over the summer after a turbulent end to the season.
