# Minamino to have Liverpool medical ahead of January move

Takumi Minamino will undergo a medical on Wednesday, ahead of his January move to Liverpool.

That’s according to the Times’ [Paul Joyce](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1207208869627338752?s=20), who states that “barring no hitches”, he will become a Reds player on January 1st.

Minamino will join Liverpool from Salzburg, having impressed greatly against Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Champions League this season.

The Reds boss was a fan of the Japanese star’s long before that, though, with his technical ability and work-rate appealing to the German.

Minamino’s debut could come against Everton in the FA Cup third round on January 5th, with the visit of Sheffield United three days earlier likely to come too soon.

An attacking midfielder with the versatility to play in numerous positions, the 24-year-old looks set to be an exciting addition.

He will also be available to play in the Champions League, with players no longer cup-tied if they have already played in the competition for a different side in the same season.
