# Naby Keita set to miss Africa Cup of Nations

Naby Keita has been ruled out for up to two months with a ruptured adductor muscle.

The 24-year-old suffered the injury in the opening 20 minutes of Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg defeat to Barcelona and had to be replaced by Jordan Henderson.

With the news confirmed by Jurgen Klopp on Friday, the Guinea international will now miss the remainder of the domestic season, as well as the African Cup of Nations this summer.

Talking to the media, cited by [Times journalist Paul Joyce](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1124244876898504704), ahead of the Reds’ Saturday fixture against Newcastle United, Klopp said:

> It is a high-grade adductor injury. It will keep him out for two months.

It is a huge blow for both Klopp and Keita, with the midfielder enjoying a successful run in the side during April.

The former RB Leipzig midfielder scored against Southampton, FC Porto and Huddersfield last month, however, the athletic midfielder isn’t expected to be fully fit again until July.
