# New Balance’s attempts to appeal rejected – Liverpool to have Nike kits

New Balance’s attempts to appeal the High Court verdict which ruled that they don’t have the right to match Nike’s offer to Liverpool Football Club has been rejected, meaning Nike will be the Reds’ kit manufacturer next season.

New Balance’s current deal with the Reds, which expires at the end of the current season, contained a clause which allowed the manufacturer to match any deal presented to Liverpool.

Nike made an offer to the Reds and whilst New Balance believed that they could match that bid in terms of finances and distribution, the High Court decided that Nike’s ability to increase sales by using famous stars like LeBron James, Serena Williams and Drake, was a deciding factor between the two offers and therefore ruled that New Balance were unable to match the offer from Nike.

New Balance attempted to appeal this judgement but that attempt has been rejected, meaning Liverpool’s kits will be created and distributed by Nike starting this summer.

The likes of LeBron James, Serena Williams and Drake helping to promote Liverpool should increase awareness of the Reds around the globe, which is what the club’s owners want. New Balance have created some excellent kits for the Reds over the last few years, hopefully, Nike can do the same.
