# Liverpool haven’t made an approach for Sergio Ramos

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/12/adam-lewis-returns-to-liverpool-after-failed-loan-spell-at-amiens-sc/)haven’t made an approach to sign Real Madrid defender [Sergio Ramos](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/07/liverpool-fans-sergio-ramos-transfer-links/) despite [recent reports](https://twitter.com/elchiringuitotv/status/1346603453938860032?s=20) to the contrary, according to Spanish publication [ABC](https://www.abc.es/deportes/real-madrid/abci-sergio-ramos-no-tiene-ofertas-202101111349_noticia.html).

Ramos is [out of contract in the summer](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/transfers/2020-2021/sergio-ramos-contract-stand-off-could-he-really-leave-real-madrid_sto8059055/story.shtml), leading to [speculation](https://twitter.com/elchiringuitotv/status/1346605833786957825) that the Reds could capitalise, whilst French giants Paris Saint-Germain have also [been credited with an interest](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9113757/Real-Madrid-wait-Sergio-Ramos-decision-sign-new-contract-amid-PSG-links.html) in the 34-year-old.

However,  ABC have acted to kibosh the links insisting the central defender ‘simply has not been put on the market’.

Ramos, a loyal servant at the Bernabeu with a mammoth [667 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sergio-ramos/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/25557) and [four Champions League triumphs](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sergio-ramos/erfolge/spieler/25557) to his name, is yet to sign a contract extension in Madrid and could bring an end to a [16-year affinity](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sergio-ramos/transfers/spieler/25557) with the club.

Despite his age, the veteran centre-back is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. This season, he has made [14 La Liga appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sergio-ramos/leistungsdaten/spieler/25557) and chipped in with two goals along the way.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

The legitimacy of Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s interest seemed questionable from the outset, given the [history between the parties](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jul/27/jurgen-klopp-sergio-ramos-ruthless-brutal-champions-league-final-liverpool-real-madrid) as well as a host of other factors.

Whilst the Anfield hierarchy have the wherewithal to sanction and ultimately fund a deal with the likely [astronomical wage demands](https://www.sportekz.com/football/real-madrid-players-salaries/) of the Spaniard, his advancing years and distinct lack of eventual sell-on value make it a deal which the club wouldn’t typically entertain – not to mention [Mohamed Salah’s face](https://talksport.com/football/417091/sergio-ramos-liverpool-mohamed-salah-shoulder/) should Ramos turn up in Kirkby.
