# ‘Often’ – Bradley Barcola and Jeremy Jacquet agree on Liverpool’s mistake vs Arsenal

**Liverpool fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Arsenal despite a spirited display at Anfield.**

After Kai Havertz’s early goal, the Gunners sat back and defended resolutely to secure their first Premier League win at the home of the Reds since 2012.

Andoni Iraola’s side didn’t go down without a fight, though. They dominated possession and threw whatever they had forward, but it just wasn’t to be for them.

And now, Bradley Barcola and Jeremy Jacquet have appeared to suggest the Reds played too many long balls against Mikel Arteta’s side.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League clash against Fenerbahce, Barcola claimed the Reds should focus on keeping the ball on the ground as opposed to hitting it long.

“I don’t think it has changed the goals for this season,” said Barcola when asked about Liverpool’s ambitions after their latest defeat.

“We had the chances to score, even to win the match.

“Often, when we’re in a game like this, we resort to long balls, but in my opinion, we should try to keep the ball on the ground more, because we have the players with the quality to do that.

“We are not going to give up. We know that other teams will drop points. So it’s down to us to remain consistent until the end of the season.”

In the same interview, Jacquet followed it up by claiming he doesn’t like playing too many long balls when asked about his playing style, which came as another pointed message to Premier League football.

“I’d say it’s a style where I like to play out from the back with short passes,” said the Frenchman.

“I don’t really like just hitting long balls, although sometimes you have to, especially in the Premier League. But generally, I’m quite composed on the ball.”
