# Opinion: Harvey Elliott can come full circle with starting role vs Leeds United

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/23/virals-liverpool-target-antony-harbours-beautiful-epl-ambition/) attacking midfielder [Harvey Elliott](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/13/opinion-returning-harvey-elliott-is-ready-to-play-key-attacking-role/) should start against Leeds United in the Premier League tonight (February 23).

The 18-year-old starlet suffered a [horrific ankle dislocation](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/liverpool-engliverpool/story/4475674/harvey-elliott-injury-pascal-struijk-bannedliverpool-midfielder-says-its-wrong) back in September at Elland Road as the Reds beat the Yorkshire club 3-0.

At that point, the teenager was expected to be out until towards the end of the season having made a [bright start](https://www.sofascore.com/player/harvey-elliott/955245) to the 2021/22 campaign.

However, following unwavering commitment to a gruelling rehabilitation programme, Elliott made an [early return to training](https://twitter.com/LFCVine/status/1483715442757849090) and subsequently, match action.

Now, having scored on a [fairytale return](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10482667/Liverpool-Harvey-Elliotts-father-beams-pride-following-goal-against-Cardiff.html) in front of the Kop against Cardiff City, the England youth international has made a successful reintegration into Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

As the Reds prepare for a [season-defining period](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results), the game in hand against Leeds United looks to be the ideal fixture for Elliott to tick off one final box from what was an injury nightmare.

With a huge [Carabao Cup final](https://www.efl.com/carabao-cup/) against Chelsea on the horizon, Klopp may be forced into deep consideration over the lineup for a pivotal clash with title race implications.

As the Reds’ are expected to dominate proceedings, for the most part, Elliott’s craft, guile and [ball carrying ability](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/363982/Show/Harvey-Elliott) makes the teen ideally suited to the challenge posed by Leeds.
