# Opinion: Liverpool star Fabinho proved invaluable in EPL victory

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/13/pundit-praises-liverpool-forward-sadio-mane-for-involvement-in-epl-win/) midfielder [Fabinho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/11/virals-liverpool-star-fabinho-sets-new-2021-22-epl-campaign-high/) is enjoying a particularly fruitful purple patch in an already outstanding career on Merseyside.

So often the Brazilian is overlooked as one of the Reds’ most important players, but in [recent weeks](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/225693) the 28-year-old has been reminding everyone of his presence.

Nicknamed the [‘lighthouse’](https://twitter.com/lfc/status/1375137906134638592) amongst peers for an unrivalled ability to spot danger, Fabinho has added goals to a sublime all-around game since the turn of the year.

As Jurgen Klopp’s side wedged past a difficult Burnley fixture, the [21-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabinho/nationalmannschaft/spieler/225693/verein_id/3439) Brazil star took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/_fabinhotavares/status/1492940377095028740) to celebrate the victory and his match-winning goal.

> Great win, guys. Let's keep it going. 🔴🙏🏽 [#YNWA](https://twitter.com/hashtag/YNWA?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/0NIqowVheH](https://t.co/0NIqowVheH)

Fabinho earned a [7.30 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/fabinho/243585) for a performance consisting of two clearances and 69 touches as well as the all-important goal before half-time.

Here’s how we rated the rest of the Liverpool players…

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

XI: Alisson 8; Trent Alexander-Arnold 7, Joel Matip 6, Virgil van Dijk 8, Andy Robertson 7; Fabinho 8, Jordan Henderson 6, Naby Keita 7; Mohamed Salah 6, Sadio Mane 7, Roberto Firmino 5.

Subs: Thiago 7, Diogo Jota 6, James Milner NA.

If further proof was needed that this Liverpool side can conquer all conditions then this was it.

Far from a free-flowing attacking display that we have become accustomed to, this was a battle from start to finish and thanks to some [big performances](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12541335/burnley-0-1-liverpool-premier-league-highlights) at the back, the Reds were able to get the job done.

Further up the pitch, there were a number of concerning displays, particularly from Roberto Firmino who [struggled](https://www.sofascore.com/burnley-liverpool/gsU) to influence proceedings.

Outside of the [£54million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabinho/marktwertverlauf/spieler/225693) Fabinho and a select few, Klopp certainly has some selection headaches ahead of [Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results) this week.
