# Opinion: ‘Spectacular’ Liverpool winger Luis Diaz was MOTM in EPL victory

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/12/opinion-liverpool-boss-jurgen-klopp-faces-selection-dilemma/) winger [Luis Diaz](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/10/pundit-labels-liverpool-star-luis-diaz-as-exceptional-following-impact/) was once again the star as the Reds maintained their pursuit of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

The 25 year old Colombian [opened the scoring](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60628391) for Jurgen Klopp’s side against Brighton & Hove Albion but was left in agony having been poleaxed by Robert Sanchez in the process.

Diaz was able to continue following treatment and [somehow](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/brighton-robert-sanchez-diaz-liverpool-23370274) the goalkeeper avoided any punishment.

Having shrugged off the blow, the flying forward [continued to dazzle](https://twitter.com/Tactical_Times/status/1502652781462798337) and was by far the most threatening in a red shirt.

Speaking after the match, Klopp [described](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/jurgen-klopp-luis-diaz-goal-liverpool-premier-league-b987697.html) the goal as ‘spectacular’ and ‘really brave’ from the Colombian.

Here’s how we rated the Reds…

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

XI: Alisson 8; Trent Alexander-Arnold 7, Joel Matip 7, Virgil van Dijk 7, Andy Robeertson 8; Fabinho 7, Jordan Henderson 7, Naby Keita 8; Mohamed Salah 7, Luis Diaz 9, Sadio Mane 8.

Subs: Diogo Jota 6, Thiago 7, James Milner 6.

Overall this was a polished, professional and routine victory for Klopp’s men on the south coast.

Whilst there were moments of concern in the opening exchanges, Liverpool [were in control](https://www.skysports.com/football/brighton-vs-liverpool/report/446570) for the most part and seemed able to keep some energy in their legs.

Onto the next one.
