# Origi holds “positive talks” over new Liverpool contract

Divock Origi has held “positive talks” with Liverpool regarding a new contract, according to journalist [Kristof Terreur](https://twitter.com/HLNinEngeland/status/1144119729646448640).

The Belgian’s future has been up in the air this summer, with rumours linking him with an exit to find more regular playing time.

It looks as though Origi’s Anfield stay could be extended, although Terreur does say the player is yet to decide:

> Liverpool and Divock Origi’s people had positive talks about a new contract just before the player went on holiday.

> There’s a good contract offer on the table now. Up to the player to take a decision when he returns from holiday.

Origi has enjoyed an extraordinary career resurrection at Liverpool, having looked almost certain to leave this time last year.

Instead, the 24-year-old stayed put and ended up playing a huge role in a memorable season for the Reds.

If crucial Premier League goals against Everton and Newcastle weren’t enough, as Liverpool reached a club record 97 points, his Champions League exploits were even more remarkable.

The striker’s double against Barcelona in the semi-final second leg at Anfield helped send Jurgen Klopp’s side through, before his late effort in the final completed a 2-0 win over Tottenham.

A new deal is just rewards for Origi, who can continue to be a key squad player moving forward.
